The Liminal Space before Spring...

Hi Coverners

It’s been a bit quiet from me in here. I’ve not disappeared, just… been super busy.

We’ve just had the New Moon (Tuesday), and tomorrow we’re moving into Ostara. That point in the year where day and night are equal, so it sits right in the balance between winter and spring, the liminal space between darkness and light, where things begin to blossom. Not overnight and not in full bloom, just a bit lighter and brighter (and a tad warmer) than it has been.

That in-between bit.

It always makes me think of the Greek Myth of Demeter and Persephone. The story goes that Persephone spends part of the year in the underworld, and her mother, Demeter, goddess of the harvest, grieves her absence. The land goes barren in the Autumn. Nothing grows in Winter.

Then, as Persephone is due to return, so does everything else. The ground…

New Moon musings | from Snake to Horse

This New Moon feels fabulous, exciting and full of so much possibility.

January was Black and all about surrender, deep rest and embracing feelings. Now we are in February - Coral - this is the point of true awakening, becoming aware of our own purpose and being flexible to embrace change - and wow, some big changes are coming…

Tuesday 17th February had some huge energy in it, not only because it was the New Moon, but also because it marked the transition from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Horse.

The Year of the Snake is now closed, and if it felt like the last 12 months have been hard, they have, for many of us. It was a time for shedding skin, learning lessons, leaving things behind, accepting home truths and preparing for the new you!

For me, this last week has put to bed…

Friday the 13th | Freya | Valentine’s

Friday the 13th and Valentine’s landing so close together actually feels heavy - but in a really good way.

Friday the 13th is all about women, thirteen moons in a year, our bodies that move in cycles, our energies that rise and fall. After all, Friday is named after the Norse goddess Frigg, closely associated with the goddess Freyja, who understood that power comes and goes; it’s gentle, it pauses.

Freya wasn’t just love and beauty. She was desire, grief, rage, magic, and rest without trying to make any of it comfortable for other people. She knew that feminine power honours its own timing.

Then Saint Valentine comes along, and he tells us love should look a certain way. Being demure, giving, tending to your lover, making an effort, even when you’re knackered - Eff that, witches.

Real love is about choosing yourself, especially when your body is asking for you…

COLOUR WITCH’S ADVENT ~ MAGENTA ~ 22nd December

Understanding, Wisdom, Magic

Magenta is about understanding. Not simple comprehension, but the deeper kind that comes from experience, dreams, and letting life move through you.

In my system, Magenta is symbolised by the river. Sometimes fast and powerful, sometimes slow and meandering. It doesn’t apologise for either. It doesn’t panic when it twists and turns. And it never gets lost.

The river might change pace, change direction, even disappear underground for a while, but it always knows where it’s going. It flows towards the ocean. And when it reaches it, it doesn’t vanish. It becomes it.

That’s Magenta.

This is the colour of wisdom that comes from living, not forcing. Understanding, that arrives when you stop trying to control everything and start paying attention. It’s the place where dreams, intuition, and lived experience begin to make sense together - finally.

COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ BLUE ~ 16th December

Communication. Connection. Motivation. Self-Expression.

Blue is the colour of your voice. Not just the words you say, but the way you connect. The way you show up. The way you let people be part of you.

When did you last really speak to someone? Not text. Not scroll past their life online. Actually talk. Actually connect.

We're so used to communicating through screens - quick messages, emojis, likes - that we forget what it feels like to hear someone's voice. To see their face. To laugh at the same time instead of reacting with a thumbs up three hours later.

The Blue Connection Challenge

Today, connect with someone properly. Not through text. Through voice or video.

COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ GREEN ~ 14th December

Empathy. Compassion. Love. Balance.

Green is (literally) the heart of it all. The colour that holds us steady when everything else is spinning.

The colour that says: you can care about others and still take care of yourself. You can give and still have boundaries. You can love without losing yourself.

Green is balance, where you soften instead of pushing through. Where you breathe instead of holding on.

And green's Mystical Companion is The Stag.

Stoic. Present. Calm strength. The stag doesn't rush. It doesn't fight unless it has to. It stands with dignity, grounded in its own quiet power, but without ego.

When everyone thinks they’re the main character

I’ve just written a new blog that mixes two of my worlds, my event manager brain and Colour Witch heart.

It is about what really happens behind the scenes when you are running big events, how magical it feels when people turn up with good energy, and how quickly it can all wobble when a handful of guests decide the rules do not apply to them, and their story is more important than anyone else’s.

If you have ever watched someone kick off over “just one more ticket”, or felt your own justice sensitivity flare up when people try to push past a boundary, this one is for you.

In the second half I share what I am planning for Witchmarket Whitby over the May Day weekend, why it will be free to enter, low fee to trade, and why I am so clear on the energy I want us to…

Monday Musing: The Colour of Compassion

Lately, I’ve been sitting with what it really means to live in alignment - not just in words, but in choices.

For me, colour is never just pigment. Green, for example, is the colour of compassion, empathy, balance and harmony - the path between what we feel and how we act.

I wonder: Are you living from your heart, or from fear?

In a world that’s loud with blame, outrage, and division, I find myself craving something simpler - a return to humanity. Not right, not left, not shouting over each other… just human.

I’ve made a small personal shift recently - one that felt like an act of integrity rather than rebellion. Not because I’m interested in politics as theatre, but because I’m interested in ethics as practice. In empathy as everyday magic.

So today’s invitation is this:
