COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ GREEN ~ 14th December

Empathy. Compassion. Love. Balance.

Green is (literally) the heart of it all. The colour that holds us steady when everything else is spinning.

The colour that says: you can care about others and still take care of yourself. You can give and still have boundaries. You can love without losing yourself.

Green is balance, where you soften instead of pushing through. Where you breathe instead of holding on.

And green's Mystical Companion is The Stag.

Stoic. Present. Calm strength. The stag doesn't rush. It doesn't fight unless it has to. It stands with dignity, grounded in its own quiet power, but without ego.

COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ ORANGE ~ 8th December

Action. Courage. Creativity.

Orange is the colour that says: stop thinking about it and just bloody do it.

It's the colour of movement, of making things happen, of creative problem-solving when you've been stuck in your head for way too long.

And today's Fylgia (spirit animal)? It's the magpie. Bold, clever, curious. Magpies don't overthink. They spot the shiny thing, and they go get it. They're collectors, creators, problem-solvers. They're not afraid to stand out or make a bit of noise.

Imagine orange and magpie energy together? That's unstoppable.

I know it’s Monday, but at this time of year, we can get stuck in what we think we're supposed to do - buying the perfect gifts, putting up the perfect decorations, the perfect everything. Orange asks: OK so what if you just made something instead (and it's not actually perfect)?

COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ RED ~ 6th December

Roots. Safety. The Things That Hold You.

Red is often described as the colour of passion, fire, danger; it’s all of that. But it is also the colour that says: you are safe here. You are held. You belong.

Red is your roots going down into the earth, your foundations. It's the people who've got your back. The places that feel like home. The possessions that aren't just things - they're memories, proof that you've lived and loved and built something solid.

At this time of year, when everything pulls us into commercialism, chaos, and other people's expectations - red reminds us to think about what actually keeps us steady.

The 3 Ps

  • Who are your people? Not just family, the ones you're supposed to care about, but those who make you feel safe and secure.

This is my altar:

People; a photo of me and my hubby, my safe person. A card from my trader family at The Gothic Gathering and a red fascinator made especially for this post at a networking group yesterday - a place I feel people really get me.

Place; Whitby - my spiritual home.

Possessions; my cauldron which has my mums favourite candle as a wax melt, a coin for abundance, a red jasper crystal, my red sage stick and a key I have buried in soil, so I always have a place of safety. A cinnamon stick for protection and bay leaf for manifestation plus my wish/affirmation for The Red House - that I keep in a jar with the key.

Your First Quest: The Colour Offering

Choose a colour that feels like you today. Post below (or start a new thread) with:

  1. The colour you chose

  2. One word (or sentence) for how it feels

  3. Bonus if you share a photo/doodle/object in that colour

Every offering becomes part of the tapestry we’re weaving here.

Cross The Threshold. Find your calm. Weave your magic.

Lavender today, but I love all shades of purple and they remind me of blue hour of the morning before sunrise - a new day - opportunity.
