New Moon musings | from Snake to Horse

This New Moon feels fabulous, exciting and full of so much possibility.

January was Black and all about surrender, deep rest and embracing feelings. Now we are in February - Coral - this is the point of true awakening, becoming aware of our own purpose and being flexible to embrace change - and wow, some big changes are coming…

Tuesday 17th February had some huge energy in it, not only because it was the New Moon, but also because it marked the transition from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Horse.

The Year of the Snake is now closed, and if it felt like the last 12 months have been hard, they have, for many of us. It was a time for shedding skin, learning lessons, leaving things behind, accepting home truths and preparing for the new you!

For me, this last week has put to bed some situations that made my skin crawl, realising I’ve been allowing people to treat me badly for way too long, not recognising narcissistic tendencies and taking the blame for things that quite clearly are not my problem. So now I have ended them, no drama, no big announcements, just a quiet knowing that I have chosen ‘me’ for a change.

So goodbye, sneaky snake. Now we step into the Year of the Horse.

The horse doesn’t slither or make you second-guess yourself. The horse knows exactly where it’s going and moves with passion, muscle, and breath. It’s all about freedom, momentum, and choosing your people wisely.

Which brings me to this simple truth for the year ahead:

I’m spending my time with witches, not bitches.

By that I mean people who are curious, kind, creative, messy, and thoughtful. People who sit round tables, not on self-appointed pedestals. People who can hold a conversation, with a cup of something warm, and a bit of silence, without feeling the need to dominate it. Without having to always be right.

That’s why The Colour Witch’s Hearth was created.

My Hearth nights are starting quietly. A local pub. A table. A drink. A chat. Maybe some crafting if the mood takes us. No pressure to be or do anything. Just humans-being-human under the New Moon (or thereabouts). These will be held monthly at Old Tailors Micro Pub in Barnsley Town Centre on Wednesdays from 6pm.

And alongside that, my Full Moon gatherings and experience days are shaping up nicely, too. These sessions are much longer, a bit deeper, much more intentional. A safe space to feel, reflect, make, and release. Different rhythm maybe, but definitely the same values.

So this New Moon, I’m setting one intention only:

To build slowly, with the right people.

If you’re here, you’re already part of that, and I love you for it!

Rest well. Shed the final bits of that skin gently. Step forward when you’re ready, and let's gallop into 2026

See you by the Hearth.
