Blue Moon Musings

Last week I posted about the move from Gold to Yellow in the liminal realm of my colour system - after a week meditating on the outcome I've written a bog post (it's a bit long and deep for here!) What started as a reflection of the transition from self-worth into joy, became a much bigger lesson about boundaries, value and the difference between being the lifeboat and being the lighthouse.

The full blog is now live here https://www.raychel.co.uk/post/i-am-meant-to-be-the-damn-lighthouse-not-the-lifeboat

Gosh Raychel, a very reflective blog! I've done a fair bit of reflecting myself this year and whilst I've come to some conclusions I've yet to come up with a master plan! I feel like I'm putting all my faith in the Universe but not doing a great deal about it myself 🙄

I'm looking forward to seeing the Colour Witch grow tho! 💛

Gold Month Musings: Self Worth, Value and Other People’s Opinions

The month of May in my 12-step colour system is Gold.

Meaning: To Value

Conscience. Opportunity. Authenticity. Self-worth. Boundaries. The bright and shiny glittery stuff, but also the really dark and uncomfortable stuff. The toxicity of the Toxic City.

And Gold has asked me some really awkward questions.

·         What am I worth - I mean, really worth and not just in £? (because that’s not a lot)

·         What do I keep giving away? (possessions, yes, but also my experience and expertise)

Reading this made me feel sad Raychel. I value you very much and as i said last week, I feel that you were brought into my life when I really needed it. The Hearth Nights have been a much needed social outlet for me this year and I'm sad they've been put on hiatus. The colour journey has opened up a new avenue of healing and I'd very much like to learn more! Have a good rest, you deserve it xxx

How do I stop myself organising stuff?

I’ve been organising events for as long as I can remember. When I say 46 years, it’s absolutely true. I was Social Secretary and Fundraiser for the local Kidney Patients Association alongside my Mum when I was just 11. (I’ll let you do the maths.)

It’s not new. It’s what I’m good at.

In 2019, I made it my whole business as a freelance event manager, and I’ve designed, developed and managed some incredible events over the years. There’s something really satisfying about seeing people enjoy something you’ve put your heart and soul into. Creating experiences that feel effortless, even when you’ve had a week of no sleep pulling it all together.

So this isn’t a phase. It’s how I’m wired.

But I’m starting to acknowledge a pattern.

I get an idea. Usually more like ten.

Maybe give yourself a number of events that you will allow yourself and that you absolutely won’t go over - put the ones you think are a ‘possible’ on the next year list.

A Little Life Update (and What’s Coming Up)

You may have noticed that I’ve been a bit quiet in here the past few weeks. Not intentionally, just life, events, and my brain doing its usual juggling act - April and May are always full on Whitby!.

Behind the scenes it’s been preparations for The Gothic Gathering, planning Witchmarket bits, and getting ready for my first theatre session this Friday.

The theatre piece is probably the one that feels the most “me” right now. It’s called In Conversation with The Colour Witch and Friends.

I’ll be getting interviewed first (which still feels a bit weird if I’m honest), then opening it up to others, and we’ll finish with a bit of a ritual/Beltane/Full Moon moment with instruments if people bring them.

It’s not scripted. More a chilled chatty vibe with great people and let’s just see where it goes...

If you can’t be there - (Whitby Pavilion, Friday 1st…

The Colour Witch Event Compass

I have this up on the wall beside my PC in my office as a reminder of what I should be giving my valuable energy to, and what I should just bin off.

And thought I’d share it, because a lot of events are feeling a little bit icky at the moment. Not that I don't want to organise them or attend. They're just much harder work than they really should be.

So instead of saying yes to everything like I used to, I try this.

When an opportunity presents itself, I use my Colour Witch Event Compass I ask myself:

South - Belonging Am I actually going to feel comfortable there?

Or am I already getting that feeling I’ll be drained, overlooked, or not really valued?

Moons and Sabbats for 2026

A little something for you…

I’ve had a few people ask for something simple to follow the moons, so I’ve put together a printable Moon & Sabbat diary for 2026.

It’s based on The Colour Witch's Colour Wheel of the Year, so it’s not just dates…it gives you a feel for the colour energy of each part of the year too.

It includes

  • New Moons - this is your fresh start each month

The Liminal Space before Spring...

Hi Coverners

It’s been a bit quiet from me in here. I’ve not disappeared, just… been super busy.

We’ve just had the New Moon (Tuesday), and tomorrow we’re moving into Ostara. That point in the year where day and night are equal, so it sits right in the balance between winter and spring, the liminal space between darkness and light, where things begin to blossom. Not overnight and not in full bloom, just a bit lighter and brighter (and a tad warmer) than it has been.

That in-between bit.

It always makes me think of the Greek Myth of Demeter and Persephone. The story goes that Persephone spends part of the year in the underworld, and her mother, Demeter, goddess of the harvest, grieves her absence. The land goes barren in the Autumn. Nothing grows in Winter.

Then, as Persephone is due to return, so does everything else. The ground…
