Why I Created My Own Colour System

Updated: Aug 8

Let’s get something out of the way:

I haven’t got a diploma in chakras.

No certificate in colour therapy.

No letters after my name that say “approved by the energy police.”

What I have got is a lifetime of working with colour in real, messy, magical, human ways. I didn’t sit down one day and say, “Oh, I think I’ll create a 12-point soul map with a tidy list of matching colours and themes.” It came through living. Through grief. Through art. Through working with people. Through feeling absolutely everything—sometimes all at once.

At first, it was just me trying to survive my own chaos. Then I noticed patterns. Red showed up when I needed grounding. Coral appeared when my inner child cried out to be seen. Gold emerged when I remembered I was worthy of more. Black came when I needed to stop, rest, or scream into the void. And so on.

Over time, those colours became my companions. Then they became a story. And now, they’ve become the Colour Witch Soul Spectrum.

“But is it real?”

(Oh, I've asked myself this many times; it's impostor syndrome kicking in.) But yep. Real as in tested on actual humans (myself included). Real as in people feel it, relate to it, use it, and heal with it. Real as in—it actually works.

Does it follow the traditional chakra system? Sort of. And sort of not. I’ve honoured what makes sense to me and reshaped what doesn’t. Because if I’ve learned anything, it’s this:

You don’t need to follow someone else’s map when you’ve got your own compass.

So what is the Colour Witch Soul Spectrum?

It’s a 12-point journey that moves us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually—all guided by the colour energy alchemy I’ve instinctively worked with for years. Each one has a “C” word to anchor it (because let’s be honest, who doesn't love a bit of alliteration):

  • Black – CHAOS: deep rest, surrender, turning overwhelm into magic

  • Coral – CONSCIOUSNESS: vulnerability, awakening, purpose

  • Red – COMFORT: life force, safety, belonging

  • Orange – COURAGE: creativity, action, emotional bravery

  • Gold – CONSCIENCE: empowerment, self-worth

  • Yellow – CONFIDENCE: joy, hope, light

  • Green – COMPASSION: love, self-love, harmony

  • Blue – CONNECTION: truth, expression, listening

  • Indigo – CLARITY: intuition, pattern-seeing, inner knowing

  • Violet – CONTENTMENT: spiritual growth, acceptance, perspective

  • Magenta – COMPREHENSION: deep soul understanding, sacred service

  • White – CALM: serenity, equanimity, divine light

It’s not about perfection. It’s not about “getting it right.” It’s about getting real, feeling deeply, and turning that into something useful. It's about the journey from darkness to light.

Why I’m Sharing This

Because I know I’m not the only one who’s ever felt like a bit of a fraud for not having “official” qualifications in something your soul knows to be true. If that’s you—hear this loud and clear:

You are allowed to know what you know. You’re allowed to trust what works. You’re allowed to bring your own language to your own magic.

I’m not claiming this system is the way. Just a way—my way. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll give you the confidence to create (or reclaim) your own.

The Power of Colour in Everyday Life

Colour plays a significant role in our daily lives. It can influence our mood, affect our decisions, and even shape our experiences. Understanding how to harness the power of colour can lead to profound changes in how we perceive the world around us.

Emotional Connections to Colour

Each colour evokes specific emotions and feelings. For instance, blue often brings a sense of calm, while red can ignite passion and energy. By recognising these connections, we can use colour intentionally to enhance our emotional well-being.

Using Colour for Healing

Many people find comfort in surrounding themselves with colours that resonate with their current emotional state. For example, if you're feeling anxious, incorporating calming colours like green or blue into your environment can promote relaxation.

Creating a Personal Colour Palette

Consider creating a personal colour palette that reflects your emotions and aspirations. This can be a fun and creative exercise that allows you to express yourself visually. Choose colours that resonate with you and use them in your home, wardrobe, or art projects.

May you turn your darkness into light, your chaos into calm, and your feelings into your fiercest kind of magic.

With colour, courage, and a big permission slip,

Raychel x

Lately, I’ve been wondering whether it’s time to start teaching this system to others. Not just sharing the colours, but offering the structure behind them. I’ll be sharing more thoughts about that soon in a follow-up post...
