The Spark of Spring, The Fire of Summer, and the early Autumn Embers
As the ember flames burn this week, I’ve been looking back at the summer - the highs, the lows, and the lessons tucked in between. As Embertide is a time of pause, reset, preparation, and power-up, it feels like the perfect moment to take stock before we step into the balance of the Autumn Equinox.
The Highs
Summer has been anything but quiet. There have been sparks of joy that lit me right up:
Publishing not one, but two books - something I’ve carried in my heart for years.
Bringing Colourwaves Festival to life and watching it ripple through the community.
Launching my first Colour Journey day at home, with fire, ritual, and creativity woven together.
Meeting new friends and allies who feel like part of my soul-tribe, each connection reminding me I’m not walking this path alone.
These were the moments where the colours burned bright - where I could feel the embers glowing strong.
The Lows
But it wasn’t all fire and radiance. The truth? I’m still struggling to be seen. Still working harder than I’d like for less return than my energy deserves.
August’s New Moon knocked me sideways, pulling the rug out from under me. And the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on 7th September - well, that one sat me flat on my arse. Sometimes the moon illuminates; sometimes it strips everything bare.
I’ve had to face shadows, doubts, and the exhaustion that comes with pouring yourself out, without always feeling the energetic flow coming back in.
The Hint of What’s to Come
Yet even in the struggle, I can sense the flicker of what’s next. Embertide isn’t about grand declarations - it’s about tending the embers, keeping the sparks alive. One of my favourite things to do is to sit in the garden, silently watching the fire fairies!
I've felt the call to open the door to The Threshold, the entrance hall to the Colour Witch's Coven, a place to gather those who want to step away from the endless scroll of socials and into something real. I feel the exciting spark in my belly, of the Soul Ranger Academy, a future fire that’s waiting for me to feed it (next Spring - watch this space!).
So this Embertide I pause with gratitude, I reset with courage and power-up with hope.
Let's Play
An Ember Spell for Reflection
Light a candle
Write down one thing you pause to honour, one thing you reset and release, and one thing you are preparing to carry forward.
Hold the paper to your heart, then fold it and keep it somewhere safe until the Autumn Equinox.
