COLOUR WITCH'S ADVENT ~ GOLD ~ 10th December
The Golden City. The Turning Point.
Gold is where it gets a tad uncomfortable.
This isn't the shiny, abundant, manifestation gold that gets sold to us on Instagram. This is the gold that asks you to consider: what are you actually willing to stand for?
If you've read my book or been on my Colour Journey, you'll know about The Golden City - a place where everything glitters, where greed and commercialism promise us more, better, shinier. It's seductive. It's everywhere. And it's toxic.
The Golden City is where we're told our worth is measured by what we have, what we buy, what we show off. It's where we doom scroll and compare and consume and never quite feel like we're enough.
It's where we lose ourselves trying to keep up with a game we never signed up for.
Gold energy asks us to step back and see it for what it really is.
Not everything that glitters is gold. And not everything we've been told to value is actually worth having.
Values, Virtues, and Personal Sovereignty
Gold is about conscience. Humanity. Ethics. It's about knowing what you stand for - not what you've been told to stand for, not the crap people are arguing about on socials, but what's real and true for you.
Personal sovereignty means knowing your worth without letting people walk all over you. It means setting boundaries. Making decisions that are yours, not just what's expected. Saying no to the things that don't light you up, even when it's hard. Especially if, like me, you're a people pleaser!
It's the moment you realise you don't have to keep playing by rules that were never designed for your benefit.
Gold is the colour of that turning point.
The moment you decide: I'm not doing this anymore.
A Leaving Behind Ritual
Today, step away from The Golden City, even if it's just for a few hours.
Turn off your phone. Log out of social media. Switch off the noise.
Sit somewhere quiet with a piece of paper and write down these three things:
What I've been told to value - the things you're supposed to want, care about, or chase. The expectations. The shoulds.
What I actually value - the things that matter to you. The real stuff - if necessary, use the 3 Ps from The Red House - People, Places and Possessions.
What I'm leaving behind - the toxic beliefs, the comparisons, the need to prove yourself, the voices that aren't yours.
Then sit for a while, grab a cuppa, (and a mince pie 😉) then read them back.
Notice the difference between the first list and the second.
Then tear up the first and third lists. You don't need them anymore.
Keep the second one. That's yours. That's your gold.
