COLOUR WITCH’S ADVENT ~ VIOLET ~ 20th December

Violet Lake. Knowing. Contentment. Grace.

Violet is the point where you stop chasing answers and start trusting what you already know. Not knowing in a logical, tick-box way, but that deeper sense of “I’m here, I’m part of this, and I don’t need to panic”.

Violet Lake is where things settle in my colour system.

It’s the place where you remember your place in the universe, dropping the ego. You realise you’re small in the grand scheme of things, but you still matter.

This is also the point just before the solstice, and you might have seen people talking about a “quantum shift” around now. I’m not into big dramatic claims, but I do recognise what people are talking about. The Violet Lake often feels like a quiet recalibration rather than anything flashy. Nothing suddenly changes, but something settles. Perspective shifts. You stop panicking about not knowing what comes next. You chill!

That’s very Violet energy. It’s not about forcing or trying to control anything. It’s about accepting that you’re part of the big picture.

Violet shows up when things feel uncertain, when plans wobble, when your brain wants to catastrophise. It doesn’t promise that everything will be fine. It reminds you that you’ll be able to handle whatever happens.

For today’s practice:

Imagine you are in a small wooden boat on a Violet Lake. It's better to do this in low light or in the evening if you can. Sit or lie down somewhere comfortable and slow your breathing. Imagine still, dark water and the boat is simply floating on it. You’re not trying to get anywhere, just letting yourself drift.

Say to yourself, quietly: ‘I don’t need to know what happens next. I only need to know I can handle what happens next.’

If your mind kicks off, don’t fight it. Just come back to the image of floating.

Do this for a few minutes, or longer if it feels good.

Violet doesn’t demand certainty. It offers steadiness. It’s the colour of grace, contentment, and trusting your place in the universe without needing everything mapped out.

If you feel like sharing, what’s something you’re learning to stop panicking about?
